Incredible !ndia

Two weeks back I’ve been to Charminar (mean Char-   four , minar-   spire ) with my friend to buy her wedding accessories. While returning from our shopping I suddenly observed people standing on the first floor of the monument. I was amazed as I wanted to mount this Islamic structure since long.   Charminar was built by Sultan Quli Qutub Shah in 1591. It is said that there was a secret tunnel from   Golconda   to Charminar which was intended as an escape route   of Qutub shah  (presently the tunnel doesn’t exist). If you stand facing this arch (the bottom pic) on top of the monument on left hand side your will find the fruit market and on the right hand side Laad Bazaar (bangle market) . This street is famous not only for bangles but also for all the bridal accessories.  Arch  This place is one of the busy centers in  Hyderabad , especially in the month of Ramadan. You can hardly get place to even stand in Ramadan Frid...

Mellow Yellow Monday ~ 9

This is one of my favorite snaps. I took this snap at Barking, London. These cute santas were placed in the lawn of our neighbors. I named this snap as colorful santas.  This week this is my snap for Mellow Yellow Monday . Shoot your comments on my fav snap.  adiós, Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday ~ 8

Cake is one of my favorite desserts. I like it soo very much   (of course everybody likes it.... here I’m not considering those aliens who do not like it) .   I like to eat all the kind of cakes, but among all Black forest is my favorite one.  Right now I've stopped eating them, as my hubs is on diet and he is forcing me to follow his diet plan   ( he is burning his stomach just to control me from eating it...so sad of me L ) .   This diet program is on since 2 months...because of which I almost forgot the taste of a few cake flavors.  Recently we've been to bakery, on that day I was fasting   (perfect  timing isn't it.... LLL ) .    My hubby happily went and ordered his favorite burger and had it. So in order to control my salivary glands I moved away from the table and was looking around the store (which in fact worsened my condition ) , I could find many cakes arranged in the shelf. All in different fascinating ...

Thursday Challenge - 7

Brown is the theme of this week's  Thursday Challenge . Initially I thought of uploading Coffee cup snap, in the mean this snap popped from no where in my folders. Then I changed my thought and wanted to upload this pic. The three cups with chocolate sauce are of different flavors (though they look like same flavored one). Now guess which one was my cup. Cheers, Vrinda.

Dooriyan

Nearly 4 years back I met Miss. A in   USA . We used to work in the same place, we became friends and in no time we were separated as  I moved to different state.   We were constantly in touch through phone. She used to call me or else I did make sure to call her at least once in a day. We used to share each and every thing; each and every important to possibly silly thing was discussed on the phone. She was very supportive to me while I was in turn supportive too. Though I seem to be very hard nut from outward, by heart I'm very weak. I frequently feel very nostalgic and start troubling my lachrymal gland   (about which my brother comments as 'crocodile tears'...which are not!) .   Miss. A was always there to pacify me, she was   (is)   always so close to my heart. Later I moved to   London . I used to make calls through magic jack.    But the frequency of the calls were  not as before. We used to be regu...

Rava Kesari (MYM #7)

This is also known as Sheera in northern India. This is one of the most common sweets you find in temples as offering to God. It is very simple dish which can be made in jiffy. Ingredients: 1 cup rava  1 cup sugar ( If you prefer it sweeter add another half cup) 3 cups water ( I prefer the sweet softer than dry) 3 spoons ghee ( you can add more too...i like less amount of ghee in my sweet) 1 spoon cashew nuts 1 spoon raisins 1 spoon cardamon powder yellow color  saffron strands (this gives very nice smell and taste, the pic I've shown doesn't have saffron strands in it) Procedure: First fry the sooji/ rava in ghee and keep it aside Boil the water in a pan and add sugar to it.  Once sugar is completely melted, add the fried sooji/ rava to the pan and close it with lid. In the mean fry cashew nuts and raisins  Now add cardamon powder, saffron and yellow color to the pan. Once the rava is completely boiled take it in to a...

Sweet pongal

Kartheeka masam is auspicious month in Telugu calender. In this month we prepare different kind of sweets and offer to lord Shiva along with prayers. Here I'm posting one of my favorite sweet recipes. This is called Sweet Pongal. Ingredients:   1 cup of raw rice 2 cups jaggery (crushed or powdered) 2 spoons of cashew nuts 2 spoons of raisins 2 spoons of ghee (preferably cow ghee while offering to Gods) Cardamons powder Dry coconut grated  Method: First cook the rice keep it aside. Dissolve the jaggery in a 1/2 cup water and keep it on the stove. Once the jaggery is melted, strain it to remove the dirt. Put the syrup once more  on the heat and add the cooked rice to it. In the mean heat the ghee and fry cashew nuts, grated coconut and raisins Add them to the rice along with cardamon powder. Mix well and serve hot. There are many ways of doing this pongal. Few add some milk in pongal, I too add milk but only 2 spoons of it . Ho...

Thursday Challenge -6

This weeks  Thursday Challenge  theme is TIME.  I've been through my entire photo folders, I found many snaps related to this theme. Among all I liked this snap, as this watch was a present from my aunt. She is my mom's best friend and very close member to my whole family. She knows that I'm very fond of watches. While presenting this she told me “Just remember that time is priceless and can never be retrieved. You can't change the past , but you can ruin the present by worrying about the future. All you have to remember is i n both good times and bad times God is with you and he will take care of you”.     Thank you auntie. Cheers, Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 6, Thursday Challenge 9

One of my favorite festivals is Diwali. It's after four yours I'm in India during this festival. This festival is celebrated due to triumph of  good over evil. During school days I used to burn the crackers, enjoy till dawn with friends and have fun with noisy fireworks.  In Sanskrit Diwali or Deepavali means "row of lights". You find lamps in front of most of the houses through out India. This is the resemblance of spirit and unity of the country. This festival is also known for Lakshmi pooja (Goddess of wealth) who helps attain health, wealth, peace and prosperity to the family. Firecrackers come in different varieties  from the delightfully visual ones to the ear deafening noisy ones. Standard type of crackers include Flower pots, Bhoo chakra (Ground wheel), Vishnu chakra and Rockets. I've taken many snaps, among all this is my favorite shot.  These are my snaps for this week  Mellow Yellow Monday  and  Thu...

This week  Thursday Challenge  theme is Peaceful. I find my peace in praying to Lord Shiva. These snaps are taken during the Kartheeka masam considered to be the auspicious month in Hindu mythology. I was doing abhishekam to Shiva Lingam.  Om Namah Shivaya.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 5

I always liked the pond filled with Lotus flowers. Just once I had the opportunity to see it in live. I was shopping in Chennai that is when I found this pot with flowers floating on water, immediately I clicked. This is my snap for the  Mellow Yellow Monday . Vrinda.

Thursday Challenge -3

This week  Thursday Challenge  is MUSIC. The moment I saw this theme I remembered my college Diwali celebration in 2008. This snap was taken by my Nokia N95 mobile. The idea behind uploading this snap is those two guys were singing my favorite song (of course in India everyones favorite song) " Yeh Haseen vadhiyan..." from the film ROJA. This song is noted as one of the best romantic songs in India cinema. During this performance most of the students in the auditorium were dumbstruck. The reason behind it was the guy in the black shirt ( I don't know his name :D ) was singing in ladies voice. I enjoyed this performance to the fullest.  Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 4

Last week I've been to Chennai. The trip went on very well, as usual I took many snaps there. Here is one among them. This snap is taken near Besant nagar beach outside some antique store. When  I saw this statue I instantly remembered  Yellow Mellow Monday . There are few lines on it which are yellow in color. I guess this fulfills the eligibility. Hope you guyz liked this shot. Shoot your comments and suggestions on it. Cheers, Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 3

I'm back...not from my vacation, but for blogging. Though I'm enjoying my vacation to the fullest, I miss blogging. This picture I took in London. This snap is one of my favorite snaps taken by me. I want to share this with you and my  Mellow Yellow Monday  friends.  Cheers, Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 2

Ever since I joined MYM group, I'm finding more and more yellow coloured things around me than ever. I've been to a store on the other day, I felt like the whole store is painted in yellow, Posters were in yellow, most of the things they were selling are in yellow or yellow covered , strangely I found the baskets there are in yellow too. When I opened my window I found all the flowers in the grass were yellow, Lines on the road are yellow. Though I see them daily, still I felt something strange about it. I've taken snaps of all these things, but this particular snap I liked the most among all. So this week my snap for  Mellow Yellow Monday   is this. I liked those colours, they are so vivid. Leave your valuable comments or suggestions on this snap. Cheers, Vrinda

MeN i LoVe

Seeing this title, these would have been the images that flashed in-to the minds of many of my friends. Yes it's not their fault, it's all mine. I was an insane admirer of all of them. There were days where my friends used to call me by their names. If their movie was a hit, then I used to spend lot of money in distributing chocolates. I used to cut cakes for their B'days. But presently I'm NOT talking about any of them above. Men with whom I'm deeply, madly, crazily and frantically in love are my hubby and bro. They are priceless and I can do anything for them. I know my hubby for the past 12 years, we were school mates. But our love blossomed just 5 years back. I fight a lot with my hubs but it takes very less time for me to convince him. All I need to say is a 5 letter word "SORRY". In turn he works on all those secret formulas to harmonize with me. When I whine about my family he looks at me as if he is watching a blockbuster movie. But in turn if ...

Thursday Challenge - 2

I found this pic in my old albums. It was taken on January 2007 when my mom visited London. This is Tower bridge an iconic symbol of London. The lifting Tower bridge is one of the must watch events in London. This snap was taken around 7:30 Pm while walking from London bridge towards the Tower bridge on the North Bank. This week  Thursday Challenge  theme is Creativity (Architecture). I don't think I could upload any better snap than this for that theme. adiós, Vrinda.

Mellow Yellow Monday # 1

Once my English teacher told that " Difference between the native English speakers and foreigners can be differentiated just by the usage of Idioms in his/her speech". Since then I'm very fond of Idioms. I always try to use them as much as I can while speaking. Just now came across this site  Mellow Yellow Monday   and immediately decided  to participate in it. Here is the snap of my Idioms collection book. I felt it would be fun to start my first post with this snap. adiós, Vrinda

Marine Life

Hi frndz..... I've been to Sea life last week. Though I watched about sea life in Animal planet and Discovery channel, I was more fascinated to see them in live. Those vivid colors, lovely fishes, picturesque settings in aquarium have really pleased me. So you all guessed right, this post is all about fishes and their beauty. Fish is a non-tetrapod carinate, a cold-blooded aquatic vertebrate. These have been on earth for more than 450 million years (well before dinosaurs). There are 31,500 diverse species of fishes. Some species of fish can fly, others can skip along the surface and others even climb the rock....interesting isn't it.  As you all know the largest fish is Great Whale Shark which can reach 52 feet. Whereas Stout infant, Philippine goby are few known smallest fishes. When I saw those sharks in the aquarium I was so excited. Though they were not very huge in size but everyone could feel their presence. As sharks are very aggressive, the consta...
